The Hobie Bass Open Series (HBOS) exists so kayak anglers can enjoy the competitive atmosphere that tournament fishing has to offer. In addition, camaraderie and sportsmanship among anglers is what makes our community great, and playing fair, respecting fellow anglers and our series is of utmost importance.

HBOS is open to all makes of kayaks (see rules for further information) and is a Catch, Photograph, and Release (CPR) tournament.

The series started in 2019, the Hobie Bass Open Series (HBOS) is a national kayak fishing tournament series with 9 Open Events in 2023 and 1 Tournament of Champions Event (TOC).

Our events take place at some of the best bass fisheries in the country where anglers have the chance to battle it out over the 2-day events which begin Friday night and end Sunday afternoon.

Anyone aged 16 years or older may enter the Open Events and all brands of kayaks are welcome. Aside from competing for cash payouts and Angler of the Year points, each event hosts a fun raffle with sponsored prizes and encompasses the camaraderie that makes the kayak fishing community special.

The 2023 College Tour will consist of 4, 1-day events and a 2-day championship. These events are open to any collegiate angler fishing out of an approved kayak/ vessel.

The first 3 events will coincide with Day 1 of a Hobie BOS event. Anglers are allowed and encouraged to compete in both. The college awards will take place on Sunday, prior to the BOS awards.

So, what’s stopping you from joining in the fun? Come and fish with us in incredible fisheries across the country and compete for big cash payouts, bragging rights, and an opportunity to represent your country at the Hobie Fishing Worlds.

Kayak fishing continues to grow, and the Hobie Bass Open Series provides an opportunity for the best kayak bass anglers in the country to show what they can do.

We hope to see you at a Hobie Bass Open Series event this year!
